BIGGEST TRAUMA TEAM PROJECT IN 14 YEARS!!
Our Trauma Team conducted a 2-week project in Nanyuki Hospital in Laikipia County in January/February 2023. It was a huge success with over 3000 patients receiving a consultation and over 60 major operations performed. New back pain clinics were established and new contacts made. Many thanks to our old friends and inspiring colleagues Dr Ndanya, Dr Kilonzo and Dr Panga and the many others that helped the project.
UKAID COMMUNITY QUALITY IMPROVEMENT GRANT ENDS
We are delighted to have signed an MoU to partner with St Joseph's Mission Hospital & Trauma Centre, Nyabondo in Kisumu County. Thanks to Health Education England for funding a scoping project to help us to establish a firm relationship there. The first projects will start later in 2023. We look forward to working with you!
GRASPIT IS GROWING AGAIN!
It remains as essential as ever that a deteriorating patient is recognised early. GRASPIT is working with Kenyatta National Hospital and Kissi University and Hospital to extend training again.

Future Health Africa is a UK-based charity which strives for sustainable improvement in the health and wellbeing of people in low-middle-income countries (LMICs).
Through sharing skills, we hope to transform lives, relieve suffering and reduce poverty.
Wherever we work, we collaborate with local communities, governments and other groups.
Our teams are made up of UK volunteers who all work, or have worked, in the National Health Service (NHS) and their Kenyan counterparts. All share a personal commitment to reduce inequalities in health and well-being by contributing to the internationally agreed Sustainable Development Goals and in particular goals 1,3,4,5,10 & 17.
Our Projects:
Trauma Team
The Trauma Team tackles disability and poverty, caused by injuries, through surgical projects which offer patients diagnosis, surgery and rehabilitation. Team members train local staff through side-by-side working.
GRASPIT
GRASPIT teaches healthcare staff how to recognise and deal with acutely ill or deteriorating ‘sick patients’ to prevent avoidable death and disability. It trains local staff to continue to train others. It is now entirely Kenyan delivered with support from the UK lead.
Quality Improvement
& Leadership
The q4a (Quality for All) faculty delivers the SPRINGBOARD programme, teaching the ‘Science of Improvement & the Art of Leadership’, empowering frontline healthcare staff to improve their ‘sick systems’ and deliver safer and better quality care.
Bursaries
When our charity resources allow, we support courses, professional development, conference and study visits, exchange programmes and medical training for LMIC individuals.
Community & Primary Care
Development
The Community & Primary Care Development team provide technical assistance to NGOs and Ministries of Health to improve health outcomes through the provision of primary healthcare in remote areas in several regions of Kenya.
Maternity
Improving Maternity Care. Our team of midwives works with communities and health facilities to reduce death and disability for mothers and babies.

Trauma team CASE STUDY
Ayub’s story
Ayub is a retired gentleman and a year before we met him he had an operation to fix a broken right knee cap.
The knee did not recover well and unfortunately became very stiff. It was stuck in an almost completely straight position. For him this made it impossible to kneel to pray, use public transport easily or climb hills or stairs without extreme difficulty.
We were able to operate and remove the scar tissue from the knee. Following the operation, there was good movement in the knee and a few days later Ayub was able to start using his knee for normal everyday activities.
